Typhoon Jenny has maintained its strength and movement midday Monday as it moved away from the Philippines, the state weather bureau said.

The typhoon will exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 11a.m. bulletin.

Jenny packed maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 220 kph.

The typhoon located at 355 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, was moving at 19 kph west northwest.

Storm Signal No. 1 remained hoisted over Batanes, which means rains and gusty winds are expected.

Fishermen were warned to avoid the seaboards of Northern Luzon, the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon and the seaboard of Samar.

Light to moderate rain is still expected over the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Mimaropa and Calabarzon and the island of Panay.
