Senator Grace Poe expressed belief on Monday that the “law is on our side” amid the citizenship issue being raised against her.
Poe issued the statement as more legal luminaries, including retired-Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban, came out to support her claim that she was a natural-born Filipino.

“I am honored that such legal luminaries are affirming our arguments against my disqualification on the grounds of citizenship,” she said in a text message, referring to the quo warranto petition filed against her at the Senate Electoral Tribunal by defeated senatorial bet Rizalito David.
“I firmly believe that the law is on our side,” she said.
“I ask the people for patience as we hurdle this temporary obstacle,” added Poe, who led the latest presidential surveys.
Poe’s running mate in 2016, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, expressed confidence that the opinion of more luminaries affirming her being a natural-born Filipino would strengthen her defense at the tribunal.
“Yes, sa Constitution man o International Law, sa batas man o ebidensya at sa hitsura at pananalita, tunay na Pilipino si Senator Grace,” Escudero said in a separate text message.
