Typhoon “Jenny” (international name: Dujuan) has maintained its strength and direction while moving over the Philippine Sea as of 10 p.m. Sunday, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in its bulletin issued at 11 p.m., said the typhoon’s center was located 435 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, as of 10 p.m., packing a maximum sustained winds of 185 km per hour near the center and gusts of up to 220 kph.
Public storm warning signal No. 1 remained hoisted over the Batanes Group of Islands, which means it could cause slight damage to houses of very light materials, among others.
Fishermen were advised not to venture out over the seaboard of northern Luzon, the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon and the seaboard of Samar.
Light to moderate rain is expected over Luzon and the Visayas due to the typhoon and the southwest monsoon, the Pagasa bulletin said.
Jenny was forecast to move west northwest at 15 kph and is expected to be outside the Philippine area of responsibility by Tuesday evening.—Rick Alberto
