KIDAPAWAN CITY—Police authorities here are preparing charges against a 35-year old farmer who has been arrested for allegedly repeatedly molesting his daughter and his stepdaughter.

The farmer, whose identity was withheld to protect the identities of the victims, was sleeping inside his house in a remote village here when authorities—acting on the request of another relative—arrived on Thursday.

Seized from him, according to city deputy police chief Senior Insp. Samuel Bascon, was a .38-cal. revolver.

Bascon said the police conducted the operation after the grandfather of the victims told them about the ordeal of the two girls. The grandfather said the brother of the two girls even witnessed several instances when the suspect molested the victims.

Bascon said that at the police station, the suspect admitted during investigation that he had been molesting the two girls since they were about 7 and 9.

He said he did so because their mother worked as a stay-in employee at one of the establishments in the city’s center. He also admitted to have threatened them with harm to keep their lips sealed.
