Grace Bostolits, SBC Brewers share top spot in Ayala inter-merchant hoop
GRACE Bostolits skippered by three-point artist Toly Petiluna trounced Max’s Restaurant, 75-68 Wednesday night for a 2-0 win-loss card and shared the lead with SBC Brewers which nipped Rustans, 58-51, in the Ayala Inter-Merchant-2011 basketball tournament at the Benjamin Solon Memorial gym in Ramos.
Max’s Restaurant led, 16-15 in the first quarter but Grace Bostolits unloaded a 21-17 bomb in the second to erect a, 36-33 lead at the half.
Grace Bostolits posted its biggest lead of 10 points, 57-47 in the third when it outscored Max’s, 21-14 behind Toly Petiluna who exploded with 12 points in the stretch all from beyond the arc.
Max’s Restaurant managed to outscore Grace Bostolits, 21-18 in the fourth led by Richard Ygot but fell short of snatching the win.
Toly Petiluna and Jeck Meting led Grace Bostolits with 17 and 16 points, respectively, while Richard Ygot paced Max’s Restaurant (1-1) with a night-high 25 points.
In the other game, SBC Brewers and Rustans fought on even terms in the first two periods before the former uncorked a blistering 23-9 run in the third for a commanding 14-point lead, 48-34 going to the fourth.
