No classes in NCR colleges, universities on November 17, 20―CHEd

The Commission on Higher Education (Ched) has declared Tuesday, November 17 and Friday, November 20 as “school holidays” in public and private colleges and universities in the National Capital Region (NCR) in relation to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Economic Leaders’ Meeting which will be held in Manila on November 18 to 19.

In Memorandum No. 51, Series of 2015 issued on Sept. 18, Ched NCR Director Leonida Calagui said that the “school holidays” were declared to “contribute to the security of Apec leaders and avoid road infractions.”

“All higher education institutions in the National Capital Region are hereby enjoined to give their students alternative activities and assignments to keep them off campus and roads on the said dates,” the memorandum read.

Malacañang has earlier declared November 18 and 19 as non-working holidays in NCR due to the Apec Economic Leaders’ Meeting, in accordance to Proclamation No. 1072.

The Apec Economic Leaders’ Meeting will be attended by 21 world leaders. JE
