Jaworski son hurt in shootout with cops
A son of basketball living legend Robert Jaworski was injured after he figured in a shootout with police in Makati City early Friday.
Senior Supt. Ernesto Barlam, the city’s chief of police, confirmed on Saturday that Ryan Joseph Jaworski, 40, of Quezon City, remained confined at Makati Medical Center as of press time after sustaining injuries reportedly in the leg.
Based on initial investigation, Jaworski and his alleged cohorts Joselito Au of Cainta, Rizal, and Ferdinand Parago were on board a maroon Nissan Sentra, with plate number WNE-425, when they reportedly noticed vehicles trailing them and fired at them in the corner of Chino Roces and Pasay Road.
It turned out those vehicles were being used by police operatives in an operation, but Barlam refused to provide additional details, referring the Inquirer to the Makati investigation unit.
A policeman who refused to be identified said, however, that all details were with the investigator, who had left already.
The policeman only confirmed the police operation—reportedly what was supposed to be a buy-bust operation—was conducted by the National Capital Region Police Office.
