Korean hotel owner murdered in Angeles City

MABALACAT CITY—A Korean businessman was shot and killed by a lone gunman inside his office at Korean Town in Angeles City on Thursday, police said on Friday.

Supt. Rodrigo de Guzman, head of the Investigation and Detection Management Bureau of the Angeles police, said Park Youn Jae, 60, owner of the 145-room Royal Hotel at Royal Garden Estate in Barangay (village) Cuayan in Angeles, was attacked at noon while he was with another Korean national in his office.

Kim Yong Soo, 39, told the police that he was in Park’s office at the second floor of Moggongwa Building at Korean Town when a man opened the glass door and asked who Park was.

When Park stood up and introduced himself, the suspect pulled a gun and shot him several times.

A witness told police that he heard five or six gunshots and saw a man running out of the building with a gun tucked in his waist. He said the man boarded a white car that was parked in front of the building and driven by another man.

Park died while being taken to the Angeles City Foundation Medical Center.
