NAGA CITY – Supporters of Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo are positive she would accept the offer of Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Manuel “Mar” Roxas II to be his running-mate.
“VP (vice president) na si Leni,” declared Naga City Mayor John Bongat, as he confirmed that Roxas, in a private meeting with Robredo after he arrived here this morning, formally asked Robredo to be his running-mate.

At least two other LP stalwarts in Camarines Sur, Vice Gov. Fortunato Peña and 5th district Rep. Salvio Fortuno also addressed Robredo as “Vice President” in speeches on the ongoing LP event here to swear in new party members and attended by about 1,500 people.
Former Iriga Mayor Madelaine Alfero Gazmin also addressed Leni as the “first Bicolana vice president” as the crowd cheered.
Robredo, garbed in a yellow t-shirt and seated on stage with Roxas, merely smiled.
A close aide of Robredo told the Inquirer that the widow of former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo has yet to decide on the offer. Juan Escandor Jr./IDL
