A fire hit the quarters of a retired Philippine Air Force official inside Villamor Airbase in Pasay City on Thursday.

Firefighters from the PAF and volunteers were able to contain the blaze, although the house of the former deputy chief for training, retired Maj. Gen. Edwin Remotigue, was staying burned to the ground.

Remotigue, who was not in the house when the fire struck, retired this month but was allowed to stay on for an undetermined period before he vacates the officers’ quarters.

PAF spokesperson Col. Enrico Canaya said investigators were still looking into the cause of the blaze which started at 11:30 a.m. No one was reported hurt because of the fire. Julie M. Aurelio
