Mini-bus driver dies, 54 hurt in Bataan road accident
BALANGA CITY—A mini-bus driver was killed while 54 others, most of them students, were hurt when a truck rammed their bus along the Roman Highway in the village of Bagong Silang, Balanga City on Wednesday night, police said Thursday.
Supt. Frederick Obar, Balanga City police chief, said the bus, driven by Joselito Hizon, was ferrying passengers to Mariveles town when a Metro Manila-bound truck hit it near the Bataan Tourism Office along the Roman Highway at about 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Hizon, 54, died while being taken to the ICMC Hospital in Balanga City. The injured passengers were taken to different hospitals in Balanga.
Obar said the truck driver, Marlon Paralejas, 36, and his helper, Ronel Ebora, were among those hurt and taken to the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City. Greg Refraccion/RAM
