Aquino net satisfaction up by 11 points, highest since early 2014
President Benigno Aquino III’s net satisfaction rating rose to 41 percentage points, up by 11 points from June and the highest since the first quarter of 2014, according to a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.
The September 2 to 5 poll, first published in BusinessWorld, showed that satisfaction with Aquino’s performance was at 64 percent nationwide. On the other hand, 22 percent of the 1,200 respondents said they were dissatisfied, while 14 were undecided, resulting in a “good” +41 net satisfaction.
Last quarter, his net satisfaction was at a “good” +30 with those satisfied at 57 percent, undecided at 15 percent and dissatisfied at 27 percent.
Aquino’s net satisfaction was at +45 in March 2014. It has declined since then, especially after the controversial Mamasapano operation in January 2015. After the said incident, his net satisfaction rating fell to +11, based on the March 2015 SWS survey.
SWS uses the following terminology to describe net satisfaction ratings: +70 and above, “excellent”; +50 to +69, “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”, +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69, “very bad”; -70 and below, “execrable.”

Article continues after this advertisementThe non-commissioned survey showed that satisfaction was lowest in Metro Manila (53 percent) as opposed to 61 percent in Mindanao and 67 percent in both the balance of Luzon and Visayas.
On the other hand, indecision was highest in Mindanao (17 percent). Undecided respondents rose to 15 percent in Visayas while it fell to 12 percent in the National Capital Region and the balance of Luzon.
Reflecting satisfaction ratings, dissatisfaction was highest in NCR at 35 percent, followed by 22 percent in Mindanao, 21 percent in balance of Luzon and 17 percent in Visayas.
Net satisfaction based on geographic area had NCR getting the lowest (+18) and Visayas the highest (+50). Respondents in the rest of Luzon had a net satisfaction rating of +46 while those in Mindanao were at +39.
Respondents in rural areas were more satisfied with Aquino (66 percent satisfied, 14 percent undecided, 20 percent dissatisfied, +46 net satisfaction) as compared to those in urban areas (59 percent satisfied, 14 percent undecided, 27 percent dissatisfied, +32 net satisfaction).
For socioeconomic classes, net satisfaction was highest among Class E at +49 (67 percent satisfied, 15 percent undecided, 18 percent dissatisfied) and lowest among Class D at +39 (63 percent satisfied, 14 percent undecided, 23 percent dissatisfied). Class ABC had fewer undecided respondents (5 percent) as more of them said they were satisfied (69 percent) or dissatisfied with Aquino (25 percent), resulting in a net satisfaction rating of +44
