The Publishers Association of the Philippines Inc. (Papi) has elected a new set of officers during its 2015 Midyear Convention held at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City on Aug. 28.
The new Papi leadership is headed by Nelson S. Santos, publisher of Finders Ads and CEO of Lecson Publishing and Services Inc. with offices in Intramuros, Manila.
Elected with Santos as executive officers are Abel Pablo of CL News/CL Banat (Tarlac), executive vice president; Jessica Bacud, publisher of The Link (Isabela), vice president for Luzon; Nestor Abrematea of the Tacloban Star (Leyte), VP for the Visayas; Angie Lim of The Stonehill Publication (Tawi-Tawi), VP for Mindanao; Dhess Aclan of Headline News Today (Batangas), board secretary; Estrella Gallardo of Weekly Express (Manila), treasurer; Nena Mallari of The Southern Tagalog Herald (Laguna), auditor.
Voted as directors for Luzon are Alma Ochotorena of News Syndicate Digest (Pampanga) and lawyer Jay Panambo Jr. of Scribbler Weekly News (Cavite); Eladio Perfecto of Catarman Weekly Tribune (Samar) and Michael Ligalig of Bohol Tribune (Bohol), directors for the Visayas; and Edna Cuyno of Surigao del Sur and Roger Egas of South Cotabato, directors for Mindanao. The new Papi officers will serve for three years or up to 2018 after their induction into office.
The incumbent Papi board is headed by Luis T. Arriola of Asean Times, as president, and Johnny C. Nunez of 20/20 News and Albay Journal as EVP. They have both decided to take a rest and give their peers the chance to lead and run their organization. With them in the incumbent board is Santos, the new president, as treasurer.
