Poe’s announcement of poll bid a ‘non-event’—Osmeña

Senator Serge Osmeña on Monday called Senator Grace Poe’s impending announcement of her presidential bid in 2016 a “non-event.”

Several sources have confirmed Poe’s plan to launch her presidential bid on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Bahay ng Alumni in the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City. But Poe kept mum on it.

Sought for comment, Osmeña said: “What’s so surprising about it? That’s a non-event, thats an anti-climax.”

Asked if he would attend the launching, Osmeña gave a quick “no” answer.

Osmeña was among those who helped Poe when she first ran and won a Senate seat in 2013.

Asked  if he would support Poe’s presidential bid this time and if he would join her senatorial ticket in 2016, Osmeña also answered in the  negative.

“No, I already told you guys naman (why)  two months ago,” he said.

Osmeña earlier advised Poe against running with Senator Francis Escudero, saying that there might be some negative issues that would arise against Escudero. AU
