LUCENA CITY — A mixture of rage and alcohol proved fatal to a family in the island town of Burdeos, Quezon.

Quoting a report from the Burdeos police, Senior Supt. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Quezon police chief, said brothers Ramil, Calvert, and Jun, all surnamed Peñamante, were having a drink in Calvert’s home in Barangay Poblacion around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

A heated argument ensued between Ramil, 40, and Jun that forced the elder Calvert, 46, to intervene and slap both his younger siblings to stop.

Though wounded, Calvert managed to grab the bolo and hacked Ramil at the back of the shoulder.

Ramil fled after the incident but was later arrested by the police. JE
