ILOILO CITY, Philippines — The ruling Liberal Party is unfazed with reports that Sen. Grace Poe will announce her candidacy for president on Sept. 16.

“We are not worried. From the very start, I have always said that we strengthen our candidate, (former interior and local government) Secretary (Mar) Roxas, rather than rely on the strength of any other person,” Senate President and LP vice president Franklin Drilon told reporters at the sidelines of the inauguration of the Iloilo Convention Center.

“There is no change in plan. We will continue to build Secretary Roxas,” Drilon added.

“If indeed true (Poe’s announcement of candidacy), that validates my assertion before that the Liberal Party should start looking for a vice president, because Senator Poe has decided to run for president. Therefore, we should intensify our efforts to look for a partner for Secretary Roxas,” Drilon said.
