After undergoing a 16-session chemotherapy cycle, doctors have recommended two successive MRI tests for Vincent Gabriel Piedad who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in July 2013.
“Regardless of what will be the result of the first MRI test, he has to undergo another one after three months for continuous monitoring, rehabilitation and recovery,” Vincent’s mother, Precy, said.
At age 10, Vincent’s development is significantly slower compared to boys his age. The tumor has affected his eyes and sense of hearing, including the way he talks and walks. As a result, he has stopped going to school.
Precy asked for help, saying that she and her husband, Antonio, who works as a waiter in Malate, Manila, have no one else to turn to. The couple, who live in Imus City, Cavite province, have borrowed heavily to finance Vincent’s chemotherapy treatment, leaving them deep in debt, she said.
Vincent will need P30,000 for the two MRI tests to be done at the Philippine General Hospital. Precy can be reached at 0915-6808661. Donations can be deposited in Antonio Piedad’s PNB bank account (#0330-175138).–Santiago R. Alcantara
