Man lying on tracks killed by PNR train

A 20-YEAR-OLD man was killed after being run over by a Philippine National Railway (PNR) train in Pandacan, Manila, on Friday.

The victim was identified as Ernesto Mallari Jr., who police said was lying on the tracks as the train approached on its way to the PNR station in Tutuban.

The driver, Mariano Baguio, maintained that he did not notice that a man was on the tracks as the train went past Pandacan’s Kahilom II area around 4 a.m., said PO2 Orville Resuello of the Manila Police District’s (MPD) Station 5.

The MPD was alerted to the incident by the train conductor, John Vincent Dayao.

The victim’s legs were severed and he was declared dead at Sta. Ana Hospital three hours later. Jodee Agoncillo
