MANILA, Philippines— The more than P12 billion in damages to agriculture and infrastructure incurred from Typhoon “Pedring” has surpassed Tropical Storm “Ondoy”, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management said.
The cost has reached P12, 343,323,120.80 billion, over P1 billion more than Ondoy’s P11 billion worth of damages, the NDRRMC said. It said that 29 bridges and road sections were still impassable.
At the same time, the NDRRMC said that two more persons were killed in Pedring and Quiel, which came one after the other in late September and early October, lashing most parts of Luzon. The two who were killed were identified as Xuan Lantano, 8 months, from Pangasinan and Tacio Ringor from Tarlac. This brings Pedring’s death toll to eight, the NDRRMC said.
The six other fatalities were identified in the report as Darryl John Agcaoili, 7, from Isabela; Ken Dela Cruz, 23; Henry Franco, 34, and Randy Delos Santos, 15, all from Nueva Ecija; and Jennica Alonzo, 1, and Paquito Tolentino, of unknown age both from Pampanga.
The number of affected families by Pedring also increased to 117, 435 families while those from Quiel’s remained at 12, 136, the NDRRMC sited.
As of the posting time, the government has provided a total of P116, 944,492.28 worth of relief assistance for residents affected by the twin typhoons.
