/ 05:13 PM September 12, 2015

BERLIN — Police say five young men were killed when a train hit their car at a crossing in western Germany.

The victims were aged between 17 and 21. It wasn’t immediately clear why the car was on the crossing and whether barriers on the road were working.

The dpa news agency quoted police as saying the accident happened Saturday morning in the small town of Monzingen. The train hit the car side-on.

There was no word of any injuries among the train’s roughly 40 passengers.
