Forty-nine days left.
That was how the Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded the public on Saturday that voter’s registration would end on October 31, 2015.
The Comelec on its Twitter account used the popular hashtag #walangforever, saying there are only 49 days left for voters to register and have their biometrics validated.
On August 25, the Comelec has launched “Walang Forever” as a countdown for eligible voters to register their biometrics.
Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista earlier said that more than four million voters stood to lose their eligibility to vote in the 2016 national elections because they have no biometrics data in their voter registration records.

Biometrics refers to the automated identification of an individual, which includes his picture, fingerprint and signature.
To entice voters to register or validate their biometrics data, Comelec has forged partnerships with country’s biggest mall operators to help voters register their biometrics data.

“One of the supposed reasons why people do not validate their bios is because it’s difficult to go to the election office, and they also say it’s a bit inconvenient both in terms infrastructure, in terms of location,” Bautista has said in an interview. Nestor Corrales/IDL
