MAYNILAD Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) will start implementing system adjustments and rotating service interruptions in its franchise area starting Sept. 16 to help manage the water level in Angat Dam during the onslaught of El Niño.
Lowered water pressure and shortened supply schedules may be expected in about 900 barangays or 56 percent of Maynilad’s area, the company said on Friday.
A specific supply interruption schedule per area was still being drawn up to ensure that affected customers would have some supply daily, even within a limited window.
“At this initial phase of system adjustments, we shall implement the supply interruptions daily from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. only. This off-peak schedule will be gradually extended until, at full implementation, we adopt the different supply schedules for each area,” supply operations engineer Ronaldo Padua said.
Maynilad serves the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, covering parts of Manila, Quezon City and Makati; Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon in Metro Manila; and the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario in Cavite province.
