Another award for Albay
LEGAZPI CITY—For the third time, Albay province won the Galing Pook Award, this time for humanitarian missions in areas ravaged by typhoons, earthquakes, floods and other natural calamities.
Albay was recognized with nine other local government units for promoting and implementing excellent local governance programs during awarding rites at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Albay Gov. Joey Salceda said the award was another feather in the cap of the province.
Salceda said Albay was awarded for its “Team Albay: Humanitarian Assistance and Economic Development Program.”
The local government of Albay promoted a culture of readiness for disasters.
In 2007, Team Albay was formed as a community-driven, disaster preparedness, volunteer corps that can mobilize in 24 hours and be the first to arrive at the scene of a disaster to do relief work.
