MANILA, Philippines – The daughter of slain broadcaster /environmentalist Dr. Gerry Ortega on Friday said her family expected a “tough battle” when her father’s murder finally goes to court.
Mika Ortega, in an interview on Radyo Inquirer 990AM, said her family was still “coping” with the loss of a father. “It’s been nine months …and the case has not been filed. Our lawyer says it’s a long process, and it can get tougher when we go finally to court.”
The Department of Justice on Thursday ordered a re-investigation into the murder of Ortega in Palawan last January 24.
Former Palawan Governor Joel Reyes was linked to the crime by Rodolfo “Bumar” Edrad Umar, who confessed to contracting the gunman upon Reyes’ supposed order.
