Facebook pics lead to arrest of suspect in Laguna couples’ murder

Police and witnesses tagged a suspect in the brutal murder of a husband and wife in Los Baños, Laguna, on September 7, 2015, through pictures he posted on Facebook, reports said Thursday.

Suspect Donald dela Rosa was subsequently arrested in Barangay Gabun, Lasam, Cagayan province, by a joint team of the Laguna and Cagayan police.

Senior Superintendent Florendo Saligao, Laguna police director, said witnesses positively identified Dela Rosa through pictures he posted on his Facebook account, a report of radio dzMM said.

Dela Rosa’s social media account apparently also led police to his whereabouts in Lasam, Cagayan.

Police say Dela Rosa is one of the suspects in the killing of Liezel and Merlito Morales, who were shot inside their black Toyota Avanza by two motorcycle-riding men in Barangay Bayog, Los Baños, at about 6:15 a.m., Monday.

After shooting the couple, the suspects also threw a hand grenade inside their vehicle, which caught fire and burned the victims. About P100,000 of burnt cash was also later found inside the car, police said.
