Thai police stage re-enactment at site of Bangkok bombing
BANGKOK, Thailand — Thai police have escorted one of the key suspects in last month’s deadly Bangkok bombing to the scene of the attack for a public re-enactment of his alleged crime.
Under tight security, the suspect was led early Wednesday to an area directly across from the Erawan Shrine.
The popular shrine was targeted by a bombing Aug. 17 that left 20 people dead and more than 120 injured.
Protected by body armor, the suspect repeatedly pointed to the shrine as he talked with investigators. Media were kept at a distance.
Police have identified the man as Yusufu Mierili. His nationality has not been confirmed but police say he was carrying a Chinese passport.
