Armed men fire on 2 vehicles in Maguindanao; 2 killed, 20 hurt
COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two people were killed and 20 others wounded when unidentified men fired on two passenger. vehicles that went through a roadblock at Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao, early Friday, the authorities said.
Inspector Lindsay Sinsuat, Datu Odin Sinsuat police chief, said the gunmen had set up a roadblock and flagged down vehicles on the highway in Barangay (village) Labungan.
The drivers of the two vehicles that the victims were in refused to stop when flagged down and were fired upon by the gunmen, Sinsuat said.
The wounded victims were brought to hospitals here.
Sinsuat said the authorities organized a posse but failed to catch up with the armed men, whose identities have yet to be established.
