Senator Grace Poe said she asked for Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle’s “prayers” for whatever decision she makes in connection with the 2016 elections.
Poe met with Tagle at the Archdiocese of Manila compound in Manila Monday night along with two presidential bets, Vice President Jejomar Binay and Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.
Binay and Roxas have already declared their presidential bid in 2016 while Poe has yet to publicly declare whether she would run for a higher post next year.
During the meeting, Poe said Tagle reminded them that a good leader should be serious and should be the first to feel what the people are going through.
She described the meeting as light as they did not talk about politics.
But when asked in an interview Tuesday if she asked for the Cardinal’s blessing in case she decides to run for a higher post next year, Poe said: “I ask for his prayers for whatever decision we’ll be making. We asked for courage and wisdom.”
