Policemen have arrested a man supplying fake cigarettes to sari-sari stores in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.
San Jose City police station chief Supt. Nolie Q. Azuncion said police responded to complaints from wholesalers about a seller of fake Mighty and Marvels cigarettes going around the city.
“Our police team apprehended the suspect yesterday on a tricycle while in possession of suspected fake Mighty and Marvels cigarette brands,” Azuncion said.
Mighty Corp. representatives confirmed the cigarettes were counterfeit upon inspection.
Republic Act No. 8293, or the Trademark Infringement and Unfair Competition Law, holds storeowners and vendors liable for selling counterfeit products.
