Binay greets Grace Poe

Vice President Jejomar Binay greeted Sen. Grace Poe and wished her well on her 47th birthday on Thursday.

“Happy birthday, Senator Poe…I wish you the best of everything,” Binay said, when reporters reminded him that it was Poe’s birthday.

Asked whether he would go to the extent of sending her a birthday cake, Binay said with a laugh: “Next question, please!”

Binay and Poe’s relationship cooled after Binay’s spokespersons brought up questions about the authenticity of Poe’s citizenship at the height of speculations that she might run for President because she was leading presidential surveys, surpassing Binay’s lead.

Binay also took a subtle dig at Poe, saying that the next President should have experience and competence.

The two earlier said they had a good relationship since Binay belonged to the opposition that helped the 2004 presidential campaign of Poe’s father, the late movie star Fernando Poe Jr.—Christine O. Avendaño
