The Department of Justice (DoJ) should “proceed with the law” on the charges filed against executives of the Iglesia ni Cristo, House Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte said on Wednesday.
During a chance interview at the House of Representatives, Belmonte was asked by reporters whether the DoJ should dismiss the case against top executives of INC.
“I think we should proceed with the law. With the procedure of the law,” Belmonte said.
He, however, said the persons being accused should be given the opportunity to defend themselves.
“I think we should give every opportunity to the persons being accused…give them every opportunity not only to defend themselves but consideration that this is a church organization wherein they may have their own internal rules and regulations in addition to the requirements of the law,” he said.
