College student killed as truck plows into 4 vehicles in Marikina

A student was reportedly killed while the driver of a 10-wheeler truck was pinned when the vehicle plowed into a jeepney, two vans and a motorcycle in Marikina City late Wednesday morning.

Rescuers identified the fatality as a “student” of the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) who was thrown out of the jeepney during the crash, radio dzMM reported. The fatality was identified through a school ID.

Meanwhile, the still unidentified driver of the truck, with license plate RHW 112, was still pinned between his vehicle and an electric lamp post as of posting.

One other victim was sprawled, motionless, on the road and had been covered with newspaper in the accident that happened along Bonifacio Avenue, Barangay Barangka at about 11 a.m., according to radio dzMM.

The truck, which came from the direction of Aurora Boulevard and Katipunan Avenue towards Marikina City, was going down the flyover leading to Bonifacio Avenue when it went wayward.

It rammed a passenger jeepney, two L300 vans and a motorcycle before hitting a Meralco lamp post. CB
