Bodies of 2 men missing in Zambales sea found

Search for 8-yr-old boy continues

SUBIC, Zambales–The bodies of two men who went missing on Monday amid a strong current in the waters off Candelaria town were recovered on Wednesday morning, police said.

A police report here said Joel Corpuz, 41, was found in Barangay Malabon in Candelaria town while the body of Ernesto Estella, 56, was recovered in Barangay Bolitoc in nearby Sta. Cruz town, between 6 and 7 a.m.

A search and retrieval operation is ongoing for Jayson Torno, 8.

Torno went swimming with three other children in the waters of Barangay Malabon when they were swept out to sea by a strong current at 3:30 p.m. Monday, said Lt. Col. Monib Mamao, head of the Army’s 24th Infantry Battalion, on Tuesday.

Mamao said Corpuz tried to rescue the children but was able to pull only three of them to safety.

Corpuz returned to the water to save Torno but he went missing minutes later.
