Ombudsman set to appeal Enrile bail before Supreme Court
The Office of the Ombudsman on Tuesday said it would file a motion of reconsideration before the Supreme Court to appeal its decision to grant bail to Senator Juan Ponce Enrile who is facing plunder charges.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales made the disclosure while appearing before the Committee on Appropriations at the House of Representatives.
On August 18, the high tribunal granted Enrile’s bid for bail.
Enrile went to the Supreme Court after the Sandiganbayan Third Division denied the motion.
Enrile was previously under hospital arrest at the Philippine Nationa Police General Hospital on charges of plunder in connection with the multi-billion pork barrel scam.
