MANILA, Philippines—A traffic enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and a bystander were bruised after an overspeeding jeepney hit them on the southbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, a Radyo Inquirer report on Thursday said.
MMDA camera and speed radar guns located in Commonwealth Avenue recorded a 63-kilometer per hour speed on a jeepney with plate number NXS-265, the report said, adding that when Officer Edwin Lamban tried to stop the jeepney, the driver rushed, hitting him and a bystander named Roberto Banay-og.
The driver immediately fled after the incident leaving his jeepney which was later impounded by the Quezon City Police District Traffic Sector 5, the report said.
MMDA has added additional workforce on Commonwealth Avenue to easily catch drivers and commuters who violate the 60-kph maximum speed policy and the anti-jaywalking law.
