DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said on Sunday night the city government would allow the protest rally by the Iglesia Ni Cristo here for as long as the protesters would not block the public’s access to the courts and the public transport terminal.

In a statement, Duterte said, “For as long as the public is also given equal right (access) to the court and the terminal, if that is assured, then the members of the Iglesia ni Cristo can hold their rally in front of the Hall of Justice.”

Duterte said in his official Facebook page, that he would talk to the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police “so they can arrange for an orderly assembly. That is police work.”

The INC has been protesting what they claim to be the undue attention given by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima to the serious illegal detention, harassment and coercion complaints filed by expelled INC minister Isaias Samson Jr. against members of the INC governing council. Inquirer Mindanao
