/ 07:55 AM August 31, 2015

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is open to allowing transport network companies (TNCs), including Uber and GrabCar, to operate in the country’s premier airport as long as they seek accreditation.

According to MIAA, all public utility vehicles at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) underwent accreditation before they were allowed to operate.

It added that TNCs which wish to be authorized to operate must submit the following: a letter of intent for airport accreditation addressed to MIAA General Manager Jose Angel Honrado; a vehicle’s certificate of registration; the official receipt of registration; a certificate of accreditation from the Department of Tourism (DOT); a list of DOT-accredited vehicles; and a Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board franchise.

Other requirements are a duly notarized written authority from the company’s representative; a duly notarized certificate of authentication of the documents submitted; a Department of Trade and Industry business registration or Securities and Exchange Commission registration and by-laws; a mayor’s permit; a copy of the latest income and business tax return  stamped and received by the Bureau of Internal Revenue; and a tax clearance certificate to prove tax payment.

According to the MIAA, the written authority of the TNC’s representative should indicate the authority of the agent to act on the company’s behalf. In case of single proprietorship, there must be a special power of attorney from the owner.
