Quezon City may have rid itself of the unenviable title of being the “carnapping capital” of the metro, but the past week may have earned it a new title as the city with the highest number of motorcycle thefts.
The police office said that of the 39 cases of motorcycle theft incidents tallied this week in Metro Manila, most came from the Quezon City Police District at 15, followed by the Manila Police District with 12 incidents.
Southern Police District tallied six motorcycle thefts in its jurisdictions, while the Northern and Eastern Police District had the lowest motorcycle theft with three cases each.
The PNP-DIDM, however, noted that the 39 cases, the weekly average for August, was already a huge decrease from the weekly average of 63 incidents tallied in the metro in June 2014.
Despite a decrease in motorcycle thefts in Metro Manila as compared to last year, the Philippine National Police Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (PNP-DIDM), in a statement on Saturday, nevertheless reminded the public to remain vigilant.
The PNP advised the public to always park motorcycles at safe, secure, and well-lit areas; to install alarms or security devices on the bikes; to use tire-locks; and to keep motorcycle keys stowed away when
