A low pressure area (LPA) will bring rains over Eastern Visayas, the state weather bureau said on Friday.

The LPA was last spotted 450 kilometers east of Maasin, Southern Leyte, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa earlier said the LPA was not likely to intensify into a tropical cyclone.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region and the province of Quezon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the northeast to northwest over the rest of the country.

The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. Frances Mangosing/RAM
