12-hr brownout to hit parts of Baguio, Benguet, Mt. Province on Friday
BAGUIO CITY—A wide portion of Baguio City, nine Benguet towns and Mt. Province will experience a 12-hour power interruption on Friday, Aug. 28, to allow the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines and local power distributors to facilitate repairs in substations in these areas.
The Benguet Electric Cooperative (Beneco) announced that power would be cut from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Benguet towns of Atok, Tublay, Kapangan, Kibungan, Bokod, Kabayan, Bakun, Buguias and Mankayan.
Baguio City will also suffer power interruption for the same period, except for the following areas: Upper Ambiong, Ambuklao Road portion, APTS, Simsim Compound, Regidor St., Maria Basa, Liteng, Pacdal Circle, Siapno Road, Botanical Garden, Pucsusan, Tavera St., Kneedler Road, Poblete Extension, John Hay, BCC, Country Club Village, Happy Hallow, Lamut, Marlboro Country, DZWT, GMA, RPN, DZBS, Lualhati, Felipe, Moran, Apostol, De los Reyes, Europa, Modesta, Good Shepherd, Cuneta, Mines View Park areas, Gibraltar, Romulo Drive, Tuding Road, Outlook Drive, Maryhurst, Lucnab, Teachers’ Camp to Forbes Park, Balangabang, DENR Compound, Villamor St., portion of Outlook Drive, Innsbruck, South Drive;
Portion of Paterno Street, DPS Compound, Lower Cabinet Hill, Green Water, Wagner Road, Military Cut-off, Sta. NGCP, in an advisory, said the entire franchise area of the Mt. Province Electric Cooperative (Mopreco) would also experience a 12-hour power interruption on Friday.
NGCP said the power cut-off was necessary for the commissioning and energization of a new 300 MVA power transformer and other associated equipment at the La Trinidad (Benguet) substation and simultaneous with line maintenance of the La Trinidad–Sagada 69kV line.
