INC sympathizers gather near DOJ compound
About 300 persons are now lined up near the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) along Padre Faura street in Manila, ahead of the expected rally of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), police said.
Superintendent Albert Barot, commander of Manila Police Station 5 (Ermita), said the persons started filling up the walkway across the DOJ compound around 11:30 a.m.
“May hinihintay na lang ata sila na speaker (They are just waiting for a speaker),” Barot told Bandera in an interview here, when asked when the rally is expected to start.
“May coordination naman sila sa amin (They coordinated with us),” he said, adding that the protesters are expected not to occupy Padre Faura street and complicate the already-sluggish afternoon traffic.
Meanwhile, Barot said he is still awaiting word if President Banigno Aquino will visit the DOJ for Justice Sec. Leila de Lima’s birthday. John Roson
