2 workers in Pangasinan electrocuted

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines — Two workers in Mangatarem town were electrocuted as they installed a steel grill on a school building window in Barangay Bogtong Silag there on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.

Supt. Ferdinand de Asis, Pangasinan police spokesperson, said Fernando Ancheta, 49, and Florentino Sta. Ana, 58, were installing a steel window grill at the Bogtong Silag Elementary School at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday when a bare part of the extension wire for their welding equipment touched the grill, electrocuting them in the process.

Ancheta and Sta. Ana, who had burns in their hands, died instantly, police said. Gabriel Cardinoza, Inquirer Northern Luzon/CDG
