‘Ineng’ leaves P469-M damage to infrastructure, agriculture
TYPHOON Ineng (Goni) has left P469 million in damage to infrastructure and agriculture, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Tuesday.
Ilocos, Cagayan and Cordillera bore the brunt of the damage. Losses to infrastructure were pegged at P421.67 million and to agriculture at P47.95 million.
Official death toll stood at 21, and most of the fatalities were victims of landslides.
The fatalities were recorded in Mountain Province, Abra, Benguet, La Union, Ilocos Norte, Zambales and Ilocos Sur.
There were 23 injured and 15 were still missing in Ilocos Norte, Cagayan, Benguet and Zambales.
A total of 102,448 persons or 23,965 families were brought to evacuation centers in Ilocos, Cagayan, Mimaropa, Calabarzon and Cordillera.
Article continues after this advertisementThe NDRRMC also recorded 37 roads — 29 national and nine local – that remained impassable in Ilocos, Cagayan, Mimaropa and Cordillera.
