Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said that he was considering running for a higher post in 2016.

Marcos said he was talking to “friends” about his political plans next year but not for reelection.

“Tuluy-tuloy pa ang mga usapan sa ating mga kaibigan sa larangan ng pulitika. Tuluy-tuloy din ang paguusap ng Nacionalista Party (NP) sa iba’t-ibang grupo, sa iba’t-ibang partido,” (Talks are ongoing with our friends in politics. The Nacionalista Party is continuing talks with different groups, different parties) he said in an interview over Bombo Radyo Monday, August 24.

“Hindi na namin napapag-usapan ang reelection. Ang pinag-uusapan ngayon ay tatakbo sa higher office, hindi na sa Senate,” (We no longer talk about reelection. Discussions are about running for higher office, no longer for the Senate) he added.

Asked on Tuesday if he was considering running for a higher post next year, Marcos said: “Yes, I am.”

Marcos’ party mate in the NP, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, was the first to declare his vice presidential bid in 2016.
