Pagasa: ‘Habagat’ to trigger flashfloods, landslides in N. Luzon

The weather bureau on Tuesday warned of possible flashfloods and landslides in Pangasinan, La Union, Zambales and Bataan due to monsoon rains.

The southwest monsoon or habagat is prevailing in Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

Northern Luzon is still reeling from the damage wrought by Typhoon “Ineng” (international name: Goni), which left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday.

Occasional rains are expected over Metro Manila, Mimaropa and Calabarzon.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms, meanwhile, will be experienced over the rest of Luzon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the south to southwest with slight to moderate seas. Frances Mangosing/IDL
