‘Ineng’ maintains strength; rains in Metro Manila, Luzon
Typhoon “Ineng” (international name Goni) has maintained its strength and further accelerated as it continues to move in a north northeast direction in Batanes, the weather bureau said early Sunday.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the enhanced “habagat” will bring monsoon rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
It said estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 500 km diameter of the typhoon.
“Ineng’s” strength has maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.
Public Strom Warning Signal number 2 is up in Batanes Group of Islands.
Signal number 1 is up in Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands.
