The state weather bureau issued a heavy rainfall warning over parts of Luzon including Metro Manila on Friday afternoon.

The yellow warning alert was up in Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Pampanga, Bulacan, Zambales and Bataan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued at 2:30 p.m.

Flooding is possible in low-lying areas.

Thunderstorms are also affecting parts of Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon, which may last for up to two hours.

Light to moderate rains affecting Tarlac and Nueva Ecija may persist for two to three hours, Pagasa said.

Typhoon “Ineng” (international name: Goni) near Batanes would enhance the southwest monsoon and bring occasional rains in Metro Manila and nearby provinces, Pagasa said. Frances Mangosing/RC
