Strip search foils drug delivery at Pasay jail

A woman visiting a neighbor at the Pasay City Jail faces the possibility of ending up behind bars herself after she tried to sneak in a sachet of drugs and four packets of cigarettes hidden inside her genitals.

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology said that Ronalyn Agullo, 33, voluntarily gave up the contraband placed inside a condom when prison inspectors became suspicious of her.

Based on the initial investigation of Jail Officer 1 Joel Reyes, Agullo arrived at the Pasay City Jail around 2 p.m. Wednesday to visit her neighbor, Jefferson Garin, who was serving time for selling drugs.

As she was being inspected for entry into the facility, Agullo appeared nervous, arousing the suspicion of authorities who asked her to take off her clothes.

She then confessed that she had hidden a condom inside her private part which contained a sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or “shabu,” four packs of cigarettes, a SIM card and 11 pieces of cut aluminum foil.

Agullo said that her neighbor, whom she identified only as Mark, promised her P900 if she would give the items to Garin. “I [agreed] … because I needed money to buy my father his medicines,” she told authorities, adding that her father was recently hospitalized.

Agullo will be turned over to the police for violating Republic Act  No. 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act.
