Tax court defers Jaime Napoles’ arraignment
THE Court of Tax Appeals (CTA) has rescheduled “until further notice” the arraignment of Jaime Napoles, husband of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet.
In a resolution promulgated August 17, the Tax Court rescheduled Napoles’ arraignment because the prosecution has not yet complied with its July 9 order.
The July 9 order of the CTA’s Third Division required the prosecutors to submit the original or certified true copy of the Certification or Referral issued by the commissioner of Internal Revenue for the filing of the criminal complaint against Napoles, his counter-affidavit and the minutes of the preliminary investigation.
“Considering that the prosecution has yet to comply with the Resolution dated July 9, 2015, the Court was constrained to reset the arraignment of the accused until further notice from the Court,” the Tax Court’s Third Division resolution stated.
Mr. Napoles’ unpaid reached P16,470,402.7 for 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011 and 2012.
