THE NATIONAL Statistics Office (NSO), formerly known as the Bureau of Census and Statistics, was created through Commonwealth Act No. 591 approved on Aug. 19, 1940. In 2013, by virtue of Republic Act No. 10625 signed by President Aquino, the NSO, National Statistical Coordination Board, Bureau of Agricultural Statistics of the Department of Agriculture, and the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics of the Department of Labor were merged to form the Philippine Statistics Authority.
